Best building material for a stucco house?

I am thinking about building a house this year. I am planning on having a stucco exterior. What would be the most cost effecient material to build my house out of? Would a cement block house be best? Thanks for any help you can offer!

Not enough info to give a cogent response. What part of the world are you in? When you say most efficent, do you mean upfront dollars, or long term and energy savings.

for what it's worth

I've painted a lot of stucco homes in the S.E. IMO the stucco that is applied directly to block holds up better than stucco on wire lath over stick built. Stick built stucco homes tend to need a lot of repair [usually minor] prior to repainting.

Location and concerns

Thanks for the replies so far. I am located in North Ga and I am mostly concerned with upfront costs as energy cost are very reasonable here. I should also be able to get a good deal on labor so my biggest concern is with materials cost. Thanks!
