Maintaining Brick Pavers

We just bought a house that has two brick paver patios. Our inspector told us to re-sand and seal them. How do I do this?

Hi,

If the patios need cleaned, I would do that first. To "sand" means to spread sand over the pavers and sweep it into the crevices. Look for sand that's appropriate for pavers, not a coarse sand. To seal, apply a sealer designated for pavers with a pump sprayer or roller.

Pretty easy maintenance and you can expect to do that every couple of years.

If the sand is clumpy, open bag and stow it in heated area for a few weeks.

Do not use concrete sand - it is too coarse for interlocking pavers.

Use mason's sand.
