Grass + Ashpalt

I had a 300 foot asphalt driveway installed last October and now with spring there is grass growing up thru it, this is causing the asphalt to push up. Is this a common occurance or an installation error issue? Any Suggestions.

Is it Bermuda grass that is growing through asphalt. It has a reputation for that. Kill grass immediately with herbicide to prevent roots from taking a toll on the asphalt. You will have to be consistent and persistent in your battle against grass growing through asphalt.

Welcome to the forums!

Did they do the proper site prep - gravel/slate base? How thick is the asphalt? There are a few unscupulous paving companies around here that will cheat and pave with a thin coat of asphalt and build up the edges to look thicker

Grass will eventually grow through, but this seems pretty quick. I'd call the installer and see what they say.
