Asphalt "repair"

My 500'+ driveway was paved about 9 months ago with excellent results; nice smooth finish. Recently, some one attempted to turn around in the driveway and the "pivoting turn" of their tires sorta buggered up two spots, removing the smooth sealed top coat exposing the rock. Nothing really loose, but it looks exposed. There are also two pine tree root cracks that I will remedy by cutting the roots. What do you recommend for a re-sealing? I don't want to just apply tar, as that can get messy in these Alabama summers. Help, please.

Use asphalt sealer. Most of it is water based and available at any big box store.
