cleaning ivy vines out of brick and wood siding
Help! After renting our house for 6 years, we are in the process of 'restoring' it to our home again. The renters allowed ivy to grow up the cement foundation and onto the pine siding. We've torn all of the ivy away, but are left with the 'tracks' of the vines. We thought power washing would take care of them. No luck. No amount of scrubbing with a stiff brush helps. It's as if the vines grew into the paint. Any suggestions? Of course, we would like to avoid having to paint every area with the vines, but may have to. Right now, I just need to get rid of the lines on the house. Thanks in advance. Lee

Were the vines and tendrils dead and dried out when you dries to remove them?
Being dead for a while and dried out makes the chore a little easier. - They are tough suckers!!!

The tracks that are on the walls now are definately dead. Over the years, I guess the vines died on the walls and left these trails. And then some of them are the remnants of the vines we pulled off last year. But all the tracks are brown and dead. We put off cleaning until now and they don't even fade with power washing and scrubbing. Is there a solution that may help? Or will it take a wire brush? Yikes! All that repainting!
