Repairing gap between brick steps

What do I use to repair a 1/4 - 1/2 inch gap between the brick steps in the front of the house. The mortar is tan in color. Is there a premix available that will get me close to the color. Couldn't find at HD or Lowes. Must I buy regular mortar mix and then mix in coloring to get the color correct? Do I have to chisel out the joint or just fill in over the crack. Simple questionsI know but I'm not very handy.

Thanks in advance

Yes, use a chisel to remove an inch or so. Buy a chisel with the guard on it. I'm not sure about the color. Call a stone yard.

Keep in mind that you are not repairing the crack, but filling a crack that will probably increase in width again, in time.

Concrete steps are frequently not built as a part of the house so they can move differently.
