Inground Pool Concrete Patio

Due to underground plumbing leaks I had to cut a 16"x16"x10feet trench in the pool concrete deck. When filling the trench with new concrete after replacing the pipes do I need to tie the surrounding existing concrete into the new concrete? Thanks.
