Change round pillar to square, add stone veneer

When our house was built, we poured three round pillars to support our porch. I want to change them to square and add a stone veneer. Should I should use cinder blocks to do this, and would I have to pour a foundation below the frost line since they won't be weight-bearing? Or should I build a square frame and pour concrete around the existing pillars that would only go from ground level up to the porch (with no foundation since it would be "stuck" to the existing pillar which is on a foundation)?

just pour a small foundation to support the stone and lay the stone up in the shape you want. if you are only going up about 3 feet nothing else needed.

life begins when the kids leave home and the dog dies
