New Garage
I live in Georgia and I am planning on building a one stall garage/workshop onto my house, but I am having a difficult time finding a link to building codes. Does anyone have a link to them. Thanks

Since you are into thinking about the project, make a rough sketch of what you want and go to the local code office in person (not telephone).
They can steer you in the right direction and give you some suggestions on what to do and what to avoid.
They do not like to have a job that is bad because that is just more work for them to make it right.
Since this is attached to your home, it is a little different than separated building. A bad attached garage can hurt your resale when you go to sell the house.

As indicated, any change to structure will require approval of the local building inspector. Codes tend to vary from area to area. The first step is to go to your local building code/inspector office and find out what is required re: construction and permitting.

the code georgia uses is called the international residential code and below is a link to the admendments they've made to this code. however i couldn't find a link to a free version of the code itself. as i mentioned below is just the georgia changes and its only a few pages.
you may be able to check one out at the library.
just a thought.

The codes you will find in a library are the nationally adopted IBC and IRC codes . This is the worst you can build and still be legal unless your state or municipality has local difference. The best thing to do when it comes to details is to vist the code ofice in person. - They do not want problems or to make more work for themselves.
