In Morristown, New Jersey, we have a new masonry front walk and stoop. It's has limestone treads and brick risers and it was built this past August. The slightest frost conditions makes the treads slippery. We would like to be prepared with some kind of ice melt substance for when things get really icy this winter. Many of the ice melt products mention that they are safe for cured concrete that is over a year old. But say nothing about relatively new masonry. What should we use? Is Calcium Chloride the best? I have a bag of Magnesium Chloride: Mag Flakes. I that good to use? How about other some other ice melt such as the "Pet Safe" ice melter, (I believe it's Propylene Glycol). Is that the right thing to use? Or, should we just rope off the front and tell people to use the back stairs? Jimi O.

I saw some posts about slurry treatments for exterior brick but I have a couple of questions. I have seen a textured finish on brick that looks like a thinned out concrete. Is this the same thing? I like the aged look and the fact that is can cover some less than desirable brick and I am trying to replicate it. What is it made of, how is it applied (sprayed on?) and can it be colored? Does it last a long time? Any info would be appreciated! Thanks!
