Parging inside of exterior wall

After removing the lath and plaster I found that the wall was originally parged on the interior. Some areas of the parging has come off. Can I just fill in the spaces with mortar or should I use a parging mix. The areas to be covered are pretty small a few gaps here and there. This will be covered over with drywall. Thanks

if the exterior veneer is intact, and the interior is covered with sheet rock, you don't need to do anything, really.

but if it will help you sleep at night, take a wire brush and a soft broom or a shop-vac to the area, get some type 's' or type 'n' mortar, and smear it on there.
