Stone veneer
I'm in the planning of building a bar, in my basement. I want to have the sides have stone veneer. My quistion is can I just use cement board to place the stone veneer up or do I have to use the metal grating that all the websites recommend? Also since this is going to be indoors, do I need to use any type of vapor barrior?

Welcome to the forums! I would use a vapor barrier, then install the cbu, and wire lath. You will need the lath to hold the concrete product or thinset. I am assuming you will be doing a drystack.

Actually, Chandler, on an interior application, direct application of the stone to concrete board with thinset is more than adequate, no moisture barrier needed. Interior application only.

It may be alright, but we don't install any without barrier, and find the lath helps to hold the stone in case there is movement in the base. Sometimes the bars are so thin they flex somewhat. Sometimes there are wet bars, and you know how sloppy people can be, and that is the main purpose of the barrier. Purely a personal choice, however.
