crack between house stucco and sidewalk

Hello,
I have cracks between the stucco on the bottom of the house and the sidewalk up against it. Is this normal or should I seal this gap and pervent water from working it's way in between the two. I have some concrete patch stuff I am considering using. Any thoughts?
Thanks,
J

If you want to seal a crack to prevent water seepage, do not use a cement based product. Use caulk, which is flexible enough to move when the concrete does. Concrete moves constantly with temperature fluctuations. A rigid patch material will crack out in no time.

I enclosed my back covered patio and wanted the exerior wall to look the same as the rest of the house which is cocina stucco. I built the wall, had the stucco applied and cualked the joint between stucco and slab. Now I have mold problems as water wicks under the bottom edge of the stucco, into the sheeting and ends up with mold on inside of the wall. Thus, don't seal this crack, leave it open. If you live in a area that gets lots of rain you may still have problems down the road.

Stucco specifications require 4" between the bottom of the wall and grade, Thansen.
