Chimney Masonry Repair

The cement on my exterior chimney is crumbling due to the deteriorated interior liner on the inner side of the blocks. Some chimney companies have recommended to knock it down and rebuild costing over $3,000. Is this something that would be covered with normal home insurance? I did not want to open a can of worms by calling my home insurance company. Thank you!

Most likely not covered because it is a long term process probably caused by lack of a functioning chimney cap and crown and deferred maintenance. - A common situation because home owner never gets to within 20' of the chimney top.
