Angry Splotches on Driveway

Four weeks ago, my contractor lifted up the sunken areas of my interlocking brick driveway and leveled them. He did a fairly good job of it. That's where the good news ends. He then applied an acrylic sealer. A few days later, I was looking at the driveway and noticed splotches of sand on top of the bricks. They are under the sealer. Any ideas why this happened? My guess is that he used an applicator to apply the sealer. It touched the sand, the sand stuck to the applicator & was spread on top of the bricks. Once the sealer dried completely, you could see the sand.

There was no reason to seal it in the first place. The brick has to breathe, otherwise the moisture can be trapped.

I would pressure wash it to remove the sealer. Throw some more sand on top & sweep it between the bricks.
