Thin stone veneer for small column

I've been struggling trying to find a way to use thin stone veneer for 4 small columns in a basement (covering the upper 48" of four 3.5" diameter poles). My problem is that all the suppliers I've been to only carry large pieces. I'd like to do the columns at 8"x12" maximum. From what I'm seeing, I'd have to buy all corner pieces, and then cut smaller pieces with a masonry blade for the gaps in between?? I don't think cut pieces would look very good. Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks!

Not really. 12x12 is the minimum I ever recommend. You could use thin sawn real stone, but it is a little more pricey.
