Question

As one step in a kitchen renovation, I plan to remove a backsplash that is covered with brickface. The individual tiles are quite adhered to the surface. Can you tell me an effective way to remove the tiles, leaving the surface smooth? Also, if chiseling the tiles off is the only solution, are there tips for keeping the wallboard intact?

Generally, sheering the tile with a wide chisel held as flat to the wall as possible results in the least damage. Some damage and patch work can be expected.
