Extendinf Concrete Patio - Advice Please.

hello everyone,

I live in tampa,FL and I am going to have my existing concrete patio which is 5x13 extended to 10x19. Eventually a few years later we would want a screened in patio installed.

We got 2 estimates so far, the first guy said if we ever wanted a screen in patio that footings and rebar in to the house is required for it.

The second guy stated that it is not required. From the estimate sheet he also filled out, it would be a 4" concrete slab - 3000psi Fibermesh.

My main question is, is rebarb required to be installed an order to have a Screened in Patio installed?

Thank you for any help/feedback.

I don't know about building codes in Florida, but in Indiana your patio would require footings (if you intended to build on top of it and it was attached to the house). The new footing would be tied to the existing footing with rebar. Best to call your local building inspector and ask about local codes.
