Removing large maple near garage foundation
I have a very large maple tree about five feet awy from the front outside corner of my attached garage and driveway.
It doesn't appear to effect either structure since both installations apear to have been made when the tree was already established at around it's current size. It's trunk is about 3 1/2 feet across.
What I've been trying to find out is will the removal of a tree and stump in this kind of situation cause serious strain on the garage slab in the long run?
Thank you

Many slabs were poured without footings. You're asking if the roots are acting as a footing, which is a good question.
There is no way of knowing 100% but I would say, if you removed the tree & the stump, chances are the roots under the slab wouldn't budge.
Wait for other opinions but that's mine.
