Retaining a raised interlock walkway

Hello, I am looking for ideas for retaining an interlock walkway that will be partially raised. I am looking for something less obtrusive than landscape ties or a curb. The walkway will be about 30" wide and running from close to flush with the surrounding sod to about 3" above the sod. Best I have come up with so far is PT 2x8s with stakes sunk below sod level. Any ideas appreciated, thanks.

You can use a wet mix, around the edges, on top of gravel or crushed recycle to give you the height you want. There is no need for the PT wood.
