Hello all,
I'm a new user here and just want to have some critiques about my fearsome project.
I'm essentially wanting to build a colossal 14'x14'x21' "cinder" block castle tower with a staircase running along the inside edges with the ground floor level, 2nd level, and the roof level. I have a large disposal of manpower that is experienced with lightweight general construction.
Mainly it will be for recreational purposes and defense against the undead and communists and sometimes both.
I understand I need a concrete poured base vs concrete blocks due to the height...but I have a few questions.
Thanks all,
-NN

- How far in the ground should I dig the base for a tower of this size?
- What is a good size for the concrete foundation?
- Any general guidelines that I should follow so this won't crumble on me when I least expect it? I don't know if this project is a laughable feat or just not common because it's not really practical for most people.
Thanks all,

You need to check local building codes to find out the footing requirements in your neck of the woods. They vary by locale. You wouldn't want to build a tower capable of repelling the attacking hordes only to have it torn down by your local building inspector.

Don't really have an answer for you but rather curious, if you manage to build that tower please post a picture of it for us to see. Sounds like an interesting concept, maybe i'll join your fight vs the undead hehe

I've become obsessed with this project and just need to hammer out the financial costs as well.
I've always been interested in this time period along with castles, renaissance, fantasy and the like. I stumbled across different things on how to build your own castle abode but came up somewhat short. I then found this company's site: CASTLEMAGIC Castle builders.
I soon realized I'd never be able to afford one of their custom made castles. I think they're cheapest is like $500,000?
So I might as well get some experience in starting to build my own
