Talking painting brick

We were asked to paint the red brick of a building a light blue and dark blue trim. Is there anything we need to do to paint the brick? Does it need to be primed or sealed? It's my first time painting over brick and I had no clue.

First you need to make sure the the brick is clean. Years ago we always primed brick with a thinned down version of the top coat although today they have specific masonry primers that might do a better job. Use a quality latex house paint for the top coat.
