Foundation For Brick Mailbox

In NJ would a 6" circular hole 30-36 inch deep with a 6" pad work for the foundation of a brick mailbox?

Much depends on the location of the box relative to the road and the mood of the guy running the snow plow.

Stick on brick or real brick that need to be supported in some way?

Around here you either accept the plow damage or use a swinging arm system since they plow at 45 mph in the middle of the night in the suburbs where there is no on-street parking allowed.

The post office will provide you with the height requirements and the approximate suggested set-back from the road of access.
