Best saw and blade for cutting blacktop?
Hi folks.
What is the best saw and sawblade for cutting off a thin strip of the top layer of blacktop? I am only needing something for one specific job, so I don't have to worry about long-term durability. Will a circular saw and sawblade do the trick?
Here is what I want to do...
The house I purchased last year has a driveway with a concrete curb in some spots. Over the years, layers of blacktop have been applied, making the blacktop level with the concrete curb.
This isn't a huge issue... until it rains. When it rains, water run off from my neighbor's house, down a shared driveway to my driveway. The slope is such that the water continues on toward my house. The water flows over the concrete curb and into my front yard and against the house. I have a basement, and a below grade foundation vent, and the water flows right in.
The way the driveway slopes, I believe that if I could just stop the water from flowing over the curb, it would redirect itself further down the driveway and drain away from the house.
What I would like to try is cutting a 4-6" gutter in the driveway buy cutting off the top layer of blacktop where it hits the concrete curb. Creating a gutter, if you will.
There is also another area on my driveway where I have a carport, and water flows into the carport when it rains heavily. I would like to try to cut a gutter at the mouth of the driveway to redirect the water to the side of the carpart instead of having it flow into the carport.
Thanks,
