Foundation expansion

Hi Everyone,

I have a traditional block foundation/stick-frame house with vinyl siding. I would like to replace the siding with real stone, not veneer. I heard one can expand the foundation by digging down to the base, drilling into the slab, adding rebar, then pour a solid concrete form that would adhere to the existing block wall. The solid stone wall would be built on this.

Does this sound correct? Any books or papers on doing this?

Thanks

They had the exact same thing on This Old House a month or two ago. Of course, they used some HI Tech forms with built in rebar & insulation. I don't think they drilled into the existing foundation but they dug to the footing the way you described. Maybe they have those episodes on their site.
