blacktop driveway peeling... what to do ?
Hi, the top coat of my driveway seems to be peeling - probably due to whoever lived here before having it spray sealed yearly.
Is there anything I can do to get it back in shape? I'm thinking of power washing it and hoping the peeling will come off. Once done, I'm thinking of putting on sealer using a brush like I did in my last house.
Any suggestions? I asked a blacktop contractor and he said I need to replace the whole thing. D'oh....

Can you post some pictures? I think it would help to see this.

The only way driveway sealer is effective when sprayed is if they go behind the spray with a brush, roller or squeegee. Spraying alone only colors the asphalt, does very little to seal it.
I'd pressure wash it and see how it looks, maybe let it set a month or so and see if any more needs to come off. Once your satisfied the peeling is done, it should be fine to applying the sealer - correctly!
