How do I fix base of brick porch?

I have a brick porch with a concrete top. The bricks are broken at the base of the porch, where the bricks hit the ground. How do I repair? Do I need to "jack" up the porch, dig down and use something for support, etc?

We'll need a little more info. How many bricks are broke? is it just a small section or does it cross the whole side? How deep is the footer? A pic or two would probably help - http://www.doityourself.com/forum/el...your-post.html

Tree limb raising driveway

We have a tree root that has been pushing up one section of our driveway for awhile. The difference between the two sections is now about 1-2 inches. It is right at the division, so there is no cracking, just a 1-2 inch drop off. I'm thinking we should cut the root on the tree side of the driveway and then have the lower section raised. My husband thinks we need to tear up that section of driveway, dig up the root and re-pour the driveway, which sounds much more expensive. Your thoughts? thanks in advance!Read More

Form for putting down paver stones?

I have a unique situation for an area where I want to put paver stones. The patio is at the bottom of some stairs, and in order to get the patio at the correct height, the soil will have to be brought up around 3 - 4 inches. I'd like to wait and put down the soil in the fall when I can plant grass to keep it in place. Is there any way to build a temporary form around the patio area that will hold in the base material, sand, and stones that can be removed after I put down the soil? It seems like pulling out a form would make the base area (esp. sand) fall out when removed, but I wanted to see if there were any suggestions. Thanks.Read More
