Concrete sealer application

I have an outdoor patio that is acid stained. Last year when I applied sealant, i apparently did not allow it to dry well enough prior to putting on the sealant. I ended up with 'white areas' that i'd like to correct. Will simply doing another application -- this time making sure that the concrete is dry -- eliminate these white areas?

Is there some product i should be using to ensure the concrete is water free prior to installing the sealant?

was the sealer you applied clear and strong smelling, or milky and almost no smell?

Do I need a 4" gravel base in my instance

I live in Long Island NY, and I am installing a clay brick patio/walkway. I have very sandy soil here. It wouldn't even call it soil - it's basically sand. I've had a hard time getting grass to grow because of it. I know that the correct way is to install about 4" of gravel and then an inch or two of sand as a base. I'm wondering if I need to do this. In the front of the house I built a clay brick walkway to the street with bricks that I found on the property. I just dug down, tamped and peeled out any rocks so that it was very flat, and installed the walkway. I've never seen any heaving or issues with it. That said, this area will be more showcased, and I bought some really nice clay bricks, and edging, so want a pro job. I'm feeling torn on whether I need to remove 6" of sand only to then install 4" of gravel and then sand again. I read that the purpose of gravel is not really for draining but rather that is what a small pitch is for. I will have a reasonable pitch for run-off. I'm really tempted to just install on my existing sand. Thoughts please.......... Thanks, TomRead More

Hi, Second owner of house where original owner built a 20x30 concrete slab and adjacent 10x4 sideway for hottub. For whatever reason, they sprinkled rice on the wet cement to create traction for their kids. Now we have a slab with holes from the rice that range from 1/4 inch deep and 1/2 ince round - think poc marked. What is a suggested remedy to cover this surface with a smooth result?Read More
