Patio expansion joints

The expansion boards in my patio have deteriorated. Can I use a concrete caulk to fill the voids? What would you recommend?

Thanks John

I don't know how wide the joints are, but I have filled them with Butyl Rubber caulk. It stays flexible and won't deteriorate with weather.

If the joints are truly expansion joints, preferably at least 1/2" wide, you would do well to first clean all the old crud out of them, wire brush the sides, and install foam backer rod in the bottom about 1/2" below the surrounding concrete. Then install whatever filler you choose--I'd be inclined to use industrial-grade polyurethane.
