Frost wall or concrete pier footings ?

We are looking into building a 3 season porch here in S/E Wisconsin, and I had a couple questions. The porch will butt up against 2 right angle walls, so there would be 2 frost walls. Floor height is about 16" above grade. Porch will be about 13' X 19'. We are getting mixed opinions on whether to use a frost wall or concrete pier footings. So far I've gotten the following recommendations:

1) Build a frost wall and a concrete slab floor. Insulate walls and slab with 2" rigid foam insulation.

2) Build a frost wall, top with 2X6 treated sill plate, with joists on top of sill plate.

3) Use concrete pier footings, with beams and joists like a standard deck.

Although it will be more expensive, I like the idea of the frost wall because the sides and bottom will be all sealed up, eliminating critters getting under the porch, and bugs.

What do you guys recommend? Thanks.

I must have missed the post. The answer to your question depends on local codes unless your lucky enough to live where you can do anything you want. The building dept would stop a job like that if plans weren't filed & approved, in most places.

Pulpo, I talked to the building inspector and both methods are allowed. They just have to be below the frost line(48" deep).

I'm trying to find out which is the best method to use.

Since it's your choice & your already leaning towards the frost wall, go with your gut feeling.

But I don't know which is a better choice. No one else has an opinion?
