Cool

How do I seal granite counter tops in the kitchen? What products do you recommend? Is there a concern about getting a nontoxic material for the kitchen? How often should I reseal?

Two words: Stone Care. Their web site http://stonecaretechniques.com/ Stone Care products are widely available (stone shops to places like the Home Depot).

If you were to email them with the name and/or the color of the stone I am sure they will help you select the proper sealer and products for your granite. Depending on the granite they may ask you to do an acetone test. The test: a clean white rag, some acetone, then wipe the stone in an less obvious area. In some cases they would want to know if a color enhancer or oil has been used to darken the stone. While you're there read about basic dos' and don'ts.
