Rain causes a rut down the side of my driveway

The rain cuts a rut along side of my asphalt driveway. My driveway is on a short downhill. I tried putting small rocks in the ruts but the rain just washes them to the bottom of my driveway. Any ideas on how to stop the erosion down my driveway?

Thanks,

Peter

Welcome to the forums Peter!

Would larger rocks work? The rocks need to be heavy enough so the water can't wash them away. Either that or figure out an easier path for the water to go.

Building U shaped "mini dams" out of larger stones along the ditch can slow down the flow enough to stop the erosion.
