foundation for bulkhead door?

one more on this topic -- 18'X18' addition with crawlspace foundation. I'm planning on using the conditioned crawlspace for some storage and so want to add a bulkhead door -- I understand that i need to build a "foundation" for the bulkhead per the mfg.'s specs, and assume it needs to go as deep as the footings etc? thx again for the input!

Bulkhead doors are typically used for basements and install on concrete foundation plates with steps. For your crawl space entry, a foundation that matched the footing would suffice as you would not want to over dig the entry portal and create a water trap.
