Pebbled concrete help

I poured a small slab (2' by 8') next to an existing pebbled slab and I thought I pebbled it well. Now its dried and it seems a good chunk of the pebbles aren't secured real well - can this rookie do anything to fix it?

Let me guess--you started hosing and brooming the surface mortar before the concrete had taken its initial set, right? Possibly even started doing so before the bleed water had evaporated off. In the future, a good practice to avoid such problems is to allow the concrete to get firm enough to walk on before starting the "wet sweeping" process.

Unfortunately, I don't think there's much that can be done to prevent more rocks from dislodging and breaking free. They will continue to do so forever. Time to break out the 10-lb. maul and get some serious exercise, removing what's there and starting over.
