Changing the color of existing mortar.

I just bought a spec home that already had the brink and mortar selected. I'm not to thrilled with color of the mortar on there now and wish to change it. Is there is any product out there that can be used to change the color of existing mortar or by either applying a tint, dye, stain or paint?

Thanks

The propriety product that does exist is not available to the public. It's applied by "factory trained" personal only.

It can be done, but both ways are painful. Cut the mortar and repoint with the desired color. You may have heard of "grout stain". A sensible person would use that idea, modifying it to suit mortar.

Paint and acyrlic coatings are bad ideas. Masonry stain may serve your purpose but it will run all over the brick. If you're not interested in painstaking application, making your own applicator and colored sealer there is little point in continuing.
