attach brickmolding to brick?

I purchased a Larson exterior steel security door and when I tried to install it, the directions say that a minimum of 1 inch door frame is required to attach the brickmolding to. My existing door frame is only 3/4 inch. There is no room to somehow reinforce the wood door frame, if that is even possible, and still fit the door inside the frame. Can the brickmolding be attached directly to the brick exterior of my home so that it will hold a very heavy steel security door? If so, how?

No, you probably don't want to attach it to the brick. Got a picture of the outside of the door jamb? And what is the distance between your door jambs? 31"? 35"?
