concrete footer for pallapa

Our pallapa (tiki bar) has a 20" tree trunk as its basis. The base has gotten worn by water etc over the years. I found a 25" cardboard form at home depot but they want to sell me a 10 foot tube. I also have an old "plastic" wash tub that is also 25" in diameter. Is there any reason I shouldn't use the wash tub as a form ? Will it be hard or impossible to remove the "plastic" form ?

Thanks

Since you'll be splitting the form to install it, stripping it after your concrete has cured shouldn't present much of a problem.

Is the tree trunk wood or concrete? Are you pouring inside or outside of the form?
