Stoop Repair

Hi,

I recently repaired my stoop. The bottom three steps were brittle and I spend a few hours with a chisel removing all brittle sections. I then drilled holes and put in cement screws and tied them together with rebar wire...there wasn't enough space for rebar itself. I figured this would add a reasonable anchor for the newly applied patch. I used Rapid Set Cement All for the patch. At this point, I am thinking I should cover the entire stoop with a coat of cement so I have a nice covering to prevent water from getting in between the new and old. Do you agree that I should put a skim coat over and if so, what is the recommended thickness? My neighbor thought one inch.

I did buy cement sealer to waterproof it once completely done, but don't want to put that on yet if it's recommended that I coat the entire stairs with cement first.

Thank you!
Doug

I wouldn't bother with the sealer.

If you could show us a few pix of what the stoop presently looks like, we'd be in a better position to offer some opinions.
