how to remove siding to replace with tile/ledgestone

Around our garage we currently have wood siding that looks like this: http://cmfac.groups.et.byu.net/jsmit.../LapSiding.jpg

We would like to remove it and replace it with these types of tiles: http://images.lowes.com/product/conv...6334100043.jpg

What's the best way to remove the siding and what material needs to be used to correctly install the tiles?

We are also planning on painting the rest of the exterior of the house, should we do this tiling before or after painting. Thank you

Your current siding (which I like better) has to be removed from the top down. I don't know what the sections of the new tile look like but my guess is that it has a nailing flange at the top of each section.

painting

Generally it's preferred to do the painting first although it might require a little touch up after the tile work is done. It's not a big deal [if you have decent painting skills] to paint after the tile is installed but you have to be a little more careful to keep the paint off of the tile. Any errant paint that gets on the tile should be removed immediately!
