Basement Walkout Patio Door Removal

So need to complete the subject line activity. The door was never finished properly and there is no need for it. I will replace with above grade window.

Looking for input on best way to approach, my thoughts are :

1. Remove retaining wall on both sides(12-18 inches)
2. Replace weeping pipe and new gravel
3. Remove patio door frame, and square off wall
4. Build cinder wall and install window frame in opening.
5. Coat exterior wall with waterproofing substance
6. Back fill opening

Anything I should do differently with wall?

Don't know what "squaring off wall means" maybe a picture would help. seems like 3, 4, 5 would be first followed by 1 and 2.

One thing to think about prior to tackling this project is whether your required a second means of egress from the basement area. If you have any sleeping quarters down there you definitely need to have one and maybe under some other circumstances depending on local codes. Obviously you don't need the patio door but you may need an egress window of the appropriate dimensions and height.

Most patio doors on a walk-out are very close to the natural ground level. Make sure you do not have a moisture problem that can be aggregated by any drainage or use changes.
