Help with Cinder Block wall, with hole middle.

Hey everyone. The back story = I live in a church building. Currently I am working on a man cave which I am going to set up in the old Sound Room. There used to be a framed double sliding glass (I'm assuming for easy communication). I removed the boxed frame, and to my surprise there wasn't a clean cut, it seems they broke out piece by piece of brick.

A couple of questions. I'm trying to figure out the best way to patch this up and have a normal room.

Should I use cinder block to try and fill it up, and then put the drywall over it. Or should I build in a frame, studs, insulation?

The simplest thing would be to frame it up and either install jamb/casing or drywall.

Breaking out the block is common and disappears once the header is installed and framing covers it. I concur with the idea of just framing it in and applying sheetrock over it to match the adjacent walls. Be sure to insulate it as well. I'd use Roxul Safe 'n Sound, since it will be a man cave and onerous noises emanate from such places.

Sorry I didnt get back sooner, wife was working this weekend and so I was watching baby - which means no work on the man cave. Next weekend I'll do some work. I think this is something to finish in 1 weekend, if not a day?

Haha Thanks for the awesome advice guys... you rock! Now I know which way to go. This site/forum is such a blessing! Will keep you updated on progress! Cya!
