Like to make an outline gravel fire pit area...
I have an area I'd like to level in my yard and make into a place for a outdoor fireplace. I'd like to use some kind of brick to make a sturdy outline and then fill the outlined area with some kind of gravel. Can anyone tell me the best way to do this? It looks like maybe just use one layer of retaining wall black as the outline and then maybe nail in those plastic bendable outline strips to keep it in place? then fill it? I have no idea please help!

A fire "pit" is just that....a hole in the ground to contain the fire. Just making a circle with bricks and laying gravel between won't contain the fire. You should research fire pit designs to see what type would suit your needs.

Wood burning or gas fired? Give us some more information on what your idea is, how big and how high you envision.

Also read up on concrete blocks, brick, rock and how they react to the heat of a fire. I've made simple fire rings/pits with bricks and stones. Some survive but some crack and some will even sorta explode. Fire brick is the most reliable for the inner lining but campers have been using regular olde rocks for thousands of years.

I have a 10x10' area that id like to level off. My idea is to level this area, then install some sort of brick around the border that is sturdy and clean looking, then fill the center with river rock 3" or so... then I'd like to put an outdoor fireplace in the center, not a fire pit in the ground. I am wondering what type of brick to use for the border? What type of base I should use..etc.
