Using remesh/ fence wire in concrete hole.

I am filling a fairly large hole in concrete ceiling (14 inch wide 8 inch deep). It is a 2story house and this hole is on the ceiling of the 1st story, floor of 2nd story.

My Question is: I am going to use fence wire as a mesh support in concrete. Is it better to to cut the fence wire/ remesh longer so that the wire fits in like a bowl (where the sides of the hole are also supported by the mesh), or to just put the mesh down as a flat sheets (cut to fit the width of hole)...?
Thanks for any input!

Are you really using "fence wire," or rather metal fabric? In my experience, fence wire is too flexible to do much good as concrete reinforcement.
