stucco repair
#1
My house is built on a hill, so part of my basement is level with the ground, this portion of the wall was done over in stucco. I have a crack in the stucco, can anyone tell me how to fix it and with what? I have never done any stucco work before. Thank you.

Dry sack hairline cracks (very tough on soft hands. You may want gloves). Purchase "concrete patch" and a spray bottle. Obtain a burlap sack or old rough towel and a tool that fits the crack.
Mix 1/4 of a 5# box very stiff and dry. When squeezed by hand the mix should form a ball that will hold its shape. Use the spray bottle to mist the crack with water (dampen only). Using extreme force shove the mix into the crack (works best if worked across the crack at a slight angle). Use the tool to compact. Add more if necessary. When flush take a handful of DRY MIX and rub it over the crack; then remove the excess with burlap. You're done.
For larger cracks carve a V groove (greatest dimension at the wall) and remove all loose material to the lath. Wet the crack, mix stucco patch and fill halfway. Compact, but leave rough. Wait 2- 4 hours. Repeat. Fill flush and tool to texture (sponge for sand finish). Mist (damp cure for 3 days).
