Preparing stamped and sealed concrete for reapplication
Approximately 2 years ago, concrete was poured and sealed with an oil based sealer. Now, it has come time to reseal again. The mason specially mentioned not to use a pressure washer on the concrete, but to clean with Ajax, etc. I would like to prep the surface. What is best?
I tried out a small section with water and a little bit of muriatic acid and it appears to be clean (which is the route I would like to go). Poured water, quickly scrubbed, then rinsed with fresh water.
Outside pressure washing, or the acid approach, are there any products that I can apply, allow to sit, scrub and rinse as preparation for resealing? Please advise. Thank you.

Do not use muriatic acid. It eats the cement in your concrete and is probably worse than pressure washing. Try any of the concrete cleaners made for the job or the Ajax your concrete person recommended.

The concrete is sealed from 2 years ago. I know there is still some coverage from the inception. I only used a very small amount of muriatic acid with water. Dumped on the area, scrubbed quickly and rinsed real quickly. Basically, I just wanted to clean the top layer of the sealer, etc. After rinsing, there was no residue of sand or concrete. Only did a test spot.
For every 5 gallons of water, I use about 18 oz. of Acid, which is very little . Also, I read that acid does not clean any grease or dirt, etc. I will go to Lowe's and purchase a concrete cleaner in preparation of the sealer. Thank you.
