Cement burn and allaergy

I was rebuilding our exterior steps. It worked out good but I got painful cement burn on two fingers. After two days, the pain seems to have subsided but I now have sever scaling and itching on my right hand.

Do I need any medical help or is home remedy (washing hand several time, using calamine lotion ) good enough.

Also, can someone suggest good gloves for cement work ?

A lot depends on your skin. Some are more sensitive to cement than others. If you think the burn is bad enough to seek medical attention - by all means do so! I've never got any effects from cement to be any more than a slight nuisance.

IMO most any glove will work fine although I suppose leather would be best. I seldom wear gloves and if I do, I often just wear it on my left hand.

Concrete mix is very basic, like drain cleaner. Yes, a trip to the hospital should be considered.
