Need some help figuring how many bags of concrete to buy....
My 23 y.o. free form asphalt driveway is crumbling along one edge for about 30 feet. It is a bit too narrow and UPS and our RV have contributed to this. Time for a fix: Cut edge a bit and even it out; Use P.T. 2x6 held in by rebar and extend width by two feet, tapering out a bit.
OK, 30 feet x 2 feet x 6 inches = 30 cubic feet. Is that about right ?
Now....how many 60 # bags of QuickCrete or similar do I need to buy to do the job? I came up with 13.5.....45....and 66.

I will get some black dye to add to the concrete.
Thank You

Here's an easy calculator Concrete Calculator - The Concrete Network
100 bags of 40#, 67 bags 60#, and 50 bags 80# or 1.1 yards.

I would like to hijack my own thread...as I am now reading up on pouring concrete. Do I need to cut some wire and place it in the form? Been reading about expansion joints. Do I need this for a two foot width by 30 foot long add-on? I have never done any concrete work in my 76 years of existence. Do I need to trowel and smooth? Do I need to cure with plastic ?

Made a couple of calls to concrete contractors. One yard is not worth it to them. Maybe a two yard run might be OK.
So, how about this: I cut the edge even and butt up some PT 2x6, held in place with many pieces of rebar a foot or more down in our red clay soil. Now...I fill up the gaps with concrete ? Cold patch asphalt ? or some kind of resin or........?
Any suggestions will be MUCH appreciated

OK....project is 99% done. A handyman/friend who has concrete experience put down a form and mixed eight 60# bags of QuickCrete and laid it in the gap after cleaning up the crumbling edges and digging a "key" slightly under the asphalt. That took 3 hours. Hard part was his using a small piece of 2x4 to form a curve in order to follow the asphalt. (another 3 hours).... Looks pretty good. Form was removed and sharp edge was beveled down to form a shoulder. Spritzed it one or two times a day and will put some asphalt sealer on in a month or so. (The QuickCrete liquid dye is not a good product). Too dumb to post a pic.....Thanks for your help.
