Too late for saw cut control joint?

Too late for saw cut control joint?

The contractor that poured the patch against my existing concrete porch did not cut a saw joint where new concrete meets old, like I asked. It has been 6 months since the new concrete was poured, and there's an unsightly hairline crack all along the joint. Is it too late to cut a saw joint? Are there any risks?

The only risk is that if the hairline crack and Your new cut don't lineup, it will probably eventually chip out. I would cut it and caulk it. You cant very well caulk a hairline crack.

It's a pretty straight crack. It's a seam rather, where the new meets the old. I'll have them cut a joint then I'll caulk it. How deep should they cut?

3/4" -1" is plenty.........
