Precast Basement Entrance

I have finally decided to replace my crumbling 70 yr old basement entry staircase. I would like to go with a precast version, but have a question. How are the precast staircases anchored in place? Are they anchored to the basement wall of the house? This would make me nervous as my house was built in the 40's. As I suspect this is the case, I may end up having a contractor build the stairs in place.

Thanks for the help!

All I have seen are attached to the basement wall. This Old House featured a precast installation in one of their shows and the stairs basically hung off of the basement wall then the earth was packed back in around the stairs after assembly.

IF your house has a conc bsmnt wall, no worries UNLESS its sub-spec conc in which case you'd notice its already under distress,,, IF block, they'll thru-bolt the precast unit into place,,, block walls have little strength in tension (they'll pull apart from lateral loading
