Discolored bricks from water

We have some places (an exterior property wall and the interior of a tiled dome) which are made of orange colored bricks (various shades). In some areas the bricks have dark stains due to water damage in the past. We have addressed the leaks. We have addressed the saltpeter deposits. But I would love to get rid of the stains. I realize painting would be one option but does anyone have any other ideas ? It there some chemical that can be applied ? some way to use a plumber's torch to draw out whatever moisture might still be in the brick ?

Thanks

Most likely the bricks are stainrf all the way through due to the water.

You could try rust remover, or even scrub down with some bleach but i suspect it's not going to do much!
